Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: December 8, 2024
Our Commitment
Vizcogs is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance Status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities.
While we strive to adhere to these guidelines, we acknowledge that not all areas of the site may fully meet accessibility standards due to the nature of interactive data visualizations.
Accessibility Features
We have implemented the following accessibility features:
Visual Design
- Light and dark theme options to accommodate different visual preferences
- Consistent color contrast ratios throughout the interface
- Scalable text that respects browser font size settings
- Clear visual hierarchy and spacing
Navigation
- Keyboard navigation support for interactive elements
- Skip-to-content links where applicable
- Consistent navigation structure across pages
- Focus indicators for keyboard users
Content
- Alt text for album artwork images
- Semantic HTML markup
- Clear headings and page structure
- Descriptive link text
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some portions of the site may have accessibility limitations:
Data Visualizations
Interactive charts and graphs (scatter plots, treemaps, chord diagrams, etc.) may not be fully accessible to screen reader users. These visualizations rely on visual representation of data that is difficult to convey through alternative text alone.
What we're doing: We are exploring ways to provide alternative data presentations, such as tabular views or text summaries, for key visualizations.
Third-Party Content
Album artwork and release information sourced from Discogs may not always have complete alternative text descriptions.
Complex Interactions
Some features like the Coverflow view, drag-and-drop interfaces, and zoom interactions may be challenging to use with assistive technologies.
Assistive Technology Compatibility
Vizcogs is designed to be compatible with:
- Recent versions of screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver, JAWS)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
We recommend using the latest versions of modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) for the best experience with assistive technologies.
