Privacy Policy
Effective Date: December 19, 2025
Information We Collect
Vizcogs collects minimal information necessary to provide our vinyl collection visualization service:
Information from Discogs
When you connect your Discogs account via OAuth, we access:
- Your Discogs username and user ID
- Your public collection data (albums, release information)
- Marketplace statistics for releases in your collection
We do not access your Discogs password, payment information, or private messages.
Automatically Collected Information
- Session tokens: Temporary OAuth tokens stored in HTTP-only cookies to maintain your login session
- Local storage: Your preferences (theme, sidebar state) and cached marketplace data stored in your browser
- Analytics and advertising data: Information collected by Google Ads for analytics and advertising purposes, including cookies, device identifiers, and browsing behavior (see Advertising section below)
Community Leaderboard Data
When you connect via OAuth and load your collection, we automatically collect and store aggregated statistics for our Community leaderboard:
- Your Discogs username and avatar URL
- Collection size (vinyl count)
- Top genres and genre diversity score
- Year range of releases (e.g., "1972-2024")
By default, your profile appears anonymously on the leaderboard (username obscured as "j***n"). You can choose to make your profile public in Settings, which reveals your full username and links to your collection. You can also opt out entirely to remove your data from the leaderboard.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not store your full collection data (individual albums) on our servers—only aggregated statistics
- We do not collect your Discogs password or payment information
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we access to:
- Display visualizations of your vinyl collection
- Fetch marketplace data (pricing, rarity) for releases in your collection
- Remember your display preferences between sessions
- Display your aggregated collection statistics on the Community leaderboard
- Display relevant advertisements to support the Service
- Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service
Collection data processing happens in your browser. We act as a pass-through to the Discogs API and do not retain your full collection data on our servers—only aggregated statistics for the Community leaderboard.
